I knew that I could make it

I have completed by graduation from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh in 2004. Like many other students, I too had hard time in placing first step in the professional world and had no idea how to go about interview process. I attended many pre placements talk and was impressed by most of them, but still was a naïve on the interview process.

I was able to clear most of the aptitude test and psycho metric test, but flunked every interview 7^thsemester gone and still no job. To add to my worries were the daily calls from my aunts & uncles who apparently wanted to encourage me but each time had a new story to blow away my confidence “Mrs. Chadha  ke ladke ki bohut achhi job lag gai, Vipul teri kab lagegi’ job’?”

I knew that I could make it. All I needed that time was professional guidance and right approach to crack the interview.  8^th semester started and company visits were in full swing. I decided to buy some books and enroll for mock interviews. This made a hole in my pocket but the money spent was worth each paisa. I gave couple of more interviews and was finally able to crack one later. I got the offer call very next day and received the offer letter.

My learning from my first job hunt experience

a) Believe in yourself

b) Take professional approach and suggestions and most importantly stay calm

c)  Good friends definitely help in keeping your shoulders high

d)  Have people around you who really care for you.

I wish Rangrut were there during my time too. It is like a life line for people like me who need right information and direction in hunting for first job.
