BE AWARE of what is going on in the industry

I got my first job through campus interview at my college - Ethiraj College for Women. I got an offer letter from GECIS Hyderabad / Gurgaon (posting option). I decided to take up that offer and landed in Delhi. But there through a friend's reference I went for interview with Agilent Technologies and got an offer from them. Since the Agilent offer was better I joined Agilent.
I think it is important that job seekers constantly better themselves - before and even while on the job. This can be done by doing courses (educational or professional), undergoing training etc.
It is important to keep oneself prepared and one step ahead of what others do. It is also important to BE AWARE of what is going on in the industry. One should select their field of interest and keep in touch with industry progress and see what is required of them and keep themselves abrest whether on knowledge or news etc.
