Need and struggle are what excite and inspire usDate: 09-Nov-2009
As William James rightly quoted “Need and struggle are what excite and inspire us.” I can contentedly say this that every failure is another big step leading towards success. As today I am a having a very satisfying job still, every paycheck remind me of those struggling days. It makes me believe more in myself .Two things I never gave up during those struggle days .One, my level of confidence, which never vane .Second, never say die spirit. Whenever I was told that it is difficult for me to land in my dream job, I knew I was close to it. This is why I am in this job today. My struggle story starts with my engineering days. This is something I bear in mind & it is still fresh like happened yesterday .I was much tensed during the placement week as days were passing and my friends were getting placed in all the best companies which came to the campus like IBM, WIPRO etc. In hope of getting placed I used to dress up everyday with same amount of confidence as day one but all in vain. Finally I came to know about TCS campus drive. The day came and they short listed my CV then the series of test started. First puzzle solving followed by English & Mathematics test. I finished the exam and waited in lounge for the list of selected candidates to be put on notice board and finally the list was out and we all 55 people rushed in to check the list, I was elated to see my name there, seemed half battle won. We were suppose to be ready for GD in 20 minutes time due to the delay in the result.GD was a major problem, as I was from a small town. I had foremost problem in formal public speaking so now it was time to head for the GD and my competitors were one of the best speakers of their batches, I did not had a very good experience at the GD session & PI and deep in there I knew that I was under prepared for this so was not selected. It was a setback, but I took it as a learning experience. College placement week came to an end and I was left lynching in the middle of nowhere but I had this strong belief in myself that one day I will definitely reach where I want to. I realized where all I was going wrong and started working on those skills. It is very important to learn from our mistakes. And this is what I have been doing. I tried all the ways of getting job which jobseekers do like business networking, uploaded CV on job portals, send resumes to zillions of job consultants. I use to get three to four mails everyday for jobs but the profile they use to offer did not matched my expectations. This is one mistake which every job seeker does out of desperation they apply for profiles & company without checking their credibility but I refrain myself in doing that one need to have lot of patience in this process and to remain calm is the key. And it paid one fine day as I saw a vacancy in Infosys and applied for it and waited for a response, days passed and finally to my surprise they invited me for an Interview so I had ten days time to prepare for that I did every thing possible to crack this interview, I knew this was my one big lifetime chance. I had to crack this interview no matter how. So the final interview day came & I was all set for it a bit nervous, but the confidence was more than ever. The interview lasted for abut 40 minutes and it was reasonably satisfying. I was told that we will inform by mail in two days. Those two days were the most difficult days of life, So on the second day I was just checking my mails and I see a mail from Infosys the subject was Provisional Offer letter and that was it. I was on top of this world. That very day I understood that nothing in this world is impossible. One needs to tap the right opportunity in a right frame of mind. I sincerely wish there could be a website like Rangrut during my time. It contains all the information required at one place and that too free of cost. I really appreciate the commendable effort by the founders of Rangrut as it will be a boon for job seekers. Posted By : Ashish Laghate
