Corporation Bank to hire 1,000 people by September

State-run Corporation Bank plans to hire 1,000 people by September as it is going on adding 200 branches every year.
The Mangalore-based bank is a lean entity with just about 14,000 employees for its 1,430 branches, mostly in the southern part of the country.
Kumar said the bank will finalise the hiring plan in a month's time. It plans to hire officers as well as clerical staffs. Since September last year, banks shortlist candidates for interview from the common selection test conducted by Institue of Banking Personnel Selection.
"We are over 100 years old now. We need to grow faster," Kumar said. The lender fits in the mid-sized bank category with Rs 2.20 lakh crore total business.
The bank has decided to open 100 more branches by March this year itself. It plans to expand rapidly in growth centres like Gujarat and Punjab. It will add more branches in rural belts of Uttar Pradesh to grow agricultural advances.
To hasten its business growth, the bank has already set up 12 more zonal offices in the north to take the tally to 31. ""With more zonal offices, we are now in a position to expand SME and retail advances,"" the CMD said.
