AHMEDABAD: Barring two participants of
the Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPX) of the 2010 batch at Indian
Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A ), who are still awaiting their dream
job offer , the rest have all been placed with a 29.5 per cent hike in average
salary. The batch had graduated from the institute on March 27.
The
corporates that recruited from the batch include consultants like McKinsey and
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), banking firms like Goldman Sachs and Axis Bank,
IT giants like Google, Amazon, IBM, Wipro, Mahindra Satyam and Infosys BPO. The
other recruiters included Polaris, Aricent, VBHDC, NISG, Genpact, Hero Honda ,
Mahindra and Mahindra, RIL, Tesco, RPG, Bennet & Coleman , MARG HCL, and
Zensar.
“Of the 66 students seeking placements, 64 have been
successfully placed. The average salary for the batch was Rs 26.1 lakh –
an increase of 29.5 per cent over the previous year’s average of Rs 20.16
lakh. At the end of the placement process, every student on an average received
1.77 offers. While IT and consultancy were the industries of choice for the
batch, project management , consulting, operations and business development were
the top functions chosen,” said the institute in a formal
release.
The institute officials said, “The two students of the
2010 batch still to be placed have niche skills and location constraints. They
also rejected one offer each as they are looking for well targeted positions in
specific industries."
Eight students of the batch have launched
entrepreneurial ventures in a variety of fields such as clean energy and
healthcare.
Professor Saral Mukherjee, the chairman of placements at
IIM-A , said "The placements this year have shown that recruiters consider the
IIMA PGPX programme to be a source of middle- to seniorlevel executive talent.
We intend to keep building on this momentum and invest in learning about needs
and preferences of recruiters."
