photoNEW DELHI: Swedish cosmetics firm Oriflame on Friday said it will increase its sales force in India by adding about 50,000 salespersons this year to sustain the 40 per cent growth rate that it has been enjoying in the country.

The company, which also announced appointment of Marcus Sandstrom as the new Managing Director of its India operations, currently has 1.5 lakh salespersons, also called consultants.

"This year we plan to increase the number of consultants to two lakh. We will target across the country... We expect to maintain the growth rate of around 40 per cent in the years to come," Sandstrom said.

He said India is a focus country of the company and has the potential to become its largest market in the next 10 years.

"Oriflame is putting a lot of focus on the Indian market, considering the fact it has a huge population and a growing economy. Over the years, may be in 10 years, it could be the largest market of the company," he said.

At present, India is the fifth largest market of the company, with Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Poland ahead of it.

Sandstrom, who has replaced Fredrik Widell as the Managing Director of the company, said Oriflame plans to open one more office, taking its total to 13 across the country, besides relocating some of the existing ones.
