Be clear & then choose a Job: Mr Prasanth Nair, President and Head - HR, Thomas CookDate: 12-Jan-2011
Rangrut.com: What are your views about this online placement cell rangrut.com? Mr Prasanth : For first job seekers its a useful tool. Its
a tool where mass hire is required. This technology can make the process
faster. It saves time, it saves cost. Of course the challenge is to make the
tool an effective medium for example if I want to recruit student who have done
something in travel industry, that should be obvious through the platform The
keyword should be such that the important element should be available to the
recruiter.
From the recruiter point I think we are getting advantage because we can access huge database of students. I think technology must enable us to do the process faster and more efficiently. Rangrut.com. Whats your plans in terms of recruitment? Mr Prasanth: The recruitment we are planning to expand both in foreign exchange and travel. We have a continuous recruitment need for people at the front line. We would be open to the people who are passionate to the travel industry. Its not something about skill we are greatly worried. We have a good training process to take care of the skills. Important is that person needs to be passionate about travel industry. Please understand that people in travel industry when others are travelling. So when people go for holiday, this person has to sit down and work. Rangrut.com. Any advice to first job seekers you would like to provide? Mr Prasanth: Be clear in what do you want and then choose a job. Dont get into the job either because your friend has got it or there is any issue about peer pressure like getting particular salary is important or your neighbor has told you that this company is good. Be clear on what you want and do you own research about the job and what it offers to you in the short and long term so that you can avoid the disappointments that might come some times In one line I would say that be clear and do research on what are the issues and implications. Rangrut.com. We really feel that people have enjoyed your session in our TPO conference. Mr Prasanth: Thanks for that. I wish I could prepare more
but its great that people have enjoyed my session
