Interview Tips

Do’s

  • Always ensure the information provided in your resume is true to the best of your knowledge.
  • Read a bit about the company before you attend the selection process.
  • It is always useful to know about the current affairs / happenings in and outside your country.
  • Make a copy of all the required educational credentials, projects / special assignments / other certificates derived from extra-curricular activities that you have done during your graduation and file them in a sequential order.
  • A letter of reference from your college faculty / senior person in a company for whom you have done any projects / special assignments would add more brownie points to your resume.
  • Personal grooming is a very important factor. As the saying goes, “First Impression is the last impression”. Hence ensure you wear the right attire along with a smile. J
  • Always reach the venue 15 minutes prior to your interview timings. If you are new to the place, please check for the venue information 2-3 days in advance.
  • Always greet the interviewer with a “Hello” when you meet for the first time. The same should be ended with a “Thank You” after the interview ends.
  • During the interview it is important to maintain a good body posture and eye contact.
  • Always provide information to the point.
  • If you have had any breaks / gaps during your education tenure, please ensure you bring this to the notice of the interviewer.
  • It’s not possible for every graduate to have an idea of his / her long term goals / targets. However, a short term perspective could be charted out and explained if required.
  • Be honest. However, at times if you don’t have a choice, give such an answer that it doesn’t tamper with the contents given by you in your resume.

Don’ts

  • Never fib any information in your resume or during the interview.
  • If you do not know the answer for any question asked, don’t beat around the bush, just admit saying you do not know.
  • Never mention email ids having a flashy name. E.g.: Mysterious guy, Super girl. etc.
  • Do not mention any hobbies which are jazzy in nature. E.g.: Playing video games, going for long drives. etc.
  • Do not make your resume more than a page considering you are just a graduate without any work experience.
