“Nothing
that is worth knowing can be taught- Oscar Wilde” a relevant quote I came across
which will support me in my entire article which is a sequel of my previous
article ‘Employability Vs You’
I remember friends that I promised you to
cover all 12 points in my upcoming articles and here I am trying to do justice
with my very first point i.e. "Emphasize more on Real Training & Practical
learning”
Imagine about the course which teaches you
following points:
1)
Anytime when you are thirsty
you need to drink water.
2)
Whenever you are hungry, you
need to have food.
3)
You should smile or laugh to
express happiness.
4)
If you will keep standing under
rain you will get wet.
5)
Close your eyes while sleeping.
I am certain the whole universe is not just aware of these facts but follow them. The question that arises in the minds of people is why there has to be a book on these topics. These are the basic instincts and fortunately if ever you will get such kind of course you will not grasp these points however you may elaborate all the points till it becomes an essay. The aforementioned issues are worth knowing but the fact is that they can’t be taught
Now think about most of the things you are
reading in syllabus are known to you. My friends studies would be like a cake
walk and exams would be the most desired event in your life. Don’t you agree
with me? Do you remember in class about any topic which you have accidently
read in advance or some how you have known it practically. I know that class
would be your favourite class along with your favourite teacher and favourite
subject :)
In many companies interns are being trained
in the manner that they very well know where are they working, what are they
doing, what have they learnt out of their training and they are always able to
connect their trainings from the subjects they are studying and when they go
back to studies, classes are no more a burden for them. They know their
subjects and all the books start making sense to them now.
Many a times I see students getting
training certificates just because their teachers have asked them to submit
that and they don’t understand certificates are of no use unless they have done
something real. At the same time I see students after completing their
training, giving a word of thanks while collecting their certificates because
no matter how many days they have worked , they get back with all practical
knowledge which any regular employee can have in that duration.
So you got what I wanted to convey with my
first point. Friends you have all opportunities with you to gain practical exposure
in many forms, what you need is the right opportunity and right way to do that.
However defining your practical work through your subjects is also very
important because that’s why a Tailor is not a fashion designer and a labourer
of a building is not an architect.
Always remember “Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must
do"- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Cheers!!!
